News: September 16, 2012 - Spain remains undefeated & is the
winner of the IX European Polo Championships Final!
'Spain was proclaimed champion of the IX European Polo
Championship after winning the final against Austria 8-2 on the last
day of the tournament that was at play in the fields of Los Pinos in
Santa María Polo Club.
The team comprising Yago Espinosa de los Monteros, Louis Domecq,
Pelayo Berazadi and Gonzalo Entrecanales culminated in a perfect
manner a tournament that dominated from start to finish and today in
the final before the Austrians proved that it is the strongest team.
A new exhibition of polo and a strong victory in the decisive encounter(8-2) do more than confirm the high quality that has this youth team led by the Argentine Benjamin Araya.
Although the first goal took to
reach the marker once Pelayo Berazadi broke the zero with less than two
minutes to the end of the first chukka, Spain set on engines and was
unstoppable for Austria. Beyond that Berazadi was the scorer of Spain with four conquests, the team functioned as such during the four party chukkers and beat the Austrians in all phases of the game. It was an unquestionable consecration of the Spanish team that ended undefeated continental tournament and debuted with his first title in European history.' PoloNewsSpain.com
